My Favorite new book

I am loving "A Brush with the Real ", by Marc Valli and Margherita Dessanay. It is book that includes a well curated sampling of profiles about 20 international mid-career contemporary figurative artists and their work.  There is a brief Q&A with each artist and a handful of large well produced color photos of their work. The format is very readable with topics of interest to those who enjoy contemporary figurative painting. Artists that I really admire are included in the collection. Just a few names of included artists are, Amy Bennett , Dan Witz, Caroline Walker, Lynette Yiadom-Boakye,Serban Savu, Tim Eitel, Cynthia Daignault, Wayne Toepp, Kent Dorn,Wilhelm Sasnal, and others. They discuss their process, background, influences, technique, and other offerings, in short interesting passages. As these are artists whose work and careers I admire , the book is a real treat for me.
